Introduction to our school

St Agnes Primary School is a small Catholic school with 164 pupils currently on role. We are situated in the centre of the village of Crawcrook, west of Gateshead Borough. We take pupils mostly form the Parish of Crawcrook, but also from Ryton, Greenside, Blaydon and Prudhoe.

Our school has a positive and caring ethos, where every child matters. We are a school where individuals are valued and people are made to feel welcome. The expectations of staff, governors and parents are high, and there is an excellent team spirit. We all share a vision which is to provide the best education and working environment for the children in our care, where our children are healthy, safe, and are encouraged to make a positive contribution to our school life.

As a Catholic School, religion plays a strong intrinsic part in our school life, and is the foundation, key and purpose to all that happens within our school. Our Gospel values underpin the whole curriculum, and RE is not simply a subject which is added on but is a belief which permeates throughout our school in all that we do.

The school has been recognised by the Diocese and LEA as “A school which promotes a positive and caring ethos, where individuals are valued and mutual respect is shown to all. A school where very high standards have been acknowledged, and as a consequence pupil numbers are rising."
